New feature in Breeze: text snippets

Managing a project often means juggling countless details and repetitive tasks, from drafting status updates to responding to common client questions. With this in mind, Breeze has rolled out a new Text Snippets feature designed to streamline your workflow and make communication faster and easier than ever. Text Snippets allows you to save, organize, and quickly insert frequently used phrases, responses, or project details, helping you cut down on typing time and maintain consistency across your projects.

Unlike other features that are automatically enabled, text snippets are optional. This keeps the Breeze interface clean and user-friendly for everyone on your team. If you'd like to take advantage of text snippets, an admin user can easily activate this feature for your entire team.

Here's How It Works:

  1. Enabling Text Snippets (Admins Only): Head over to the features management page: https://app.breeze.pm/feature. Here, admin users can activate text snippets for all users within your Breeze workspace.

  2. Accessing Text Snippets: Once enabled, all users will see a new "Snippets" link in the top right corner dropdown menu. This link leads you to the dedicated snippets management page: https://app.breeze.pm/snippets.

  3. Creating and Managing Snippets: Click on the "Add a snippet" button to create a new reusable text block.

    Here's a breakdown of snippet permissions:
    * Creation: All users except clients can create personal text snippets.
    * Usage: By default, you can only use snippets you've created.
    * Sharing: Enable the "Share" option to allow other team members to use your snippet.
    * Editing/Deletion: You can only edit or delete snippets you created, unless they're shared (admin users can edit/delete shared snippets).
    * Project Visibility: Restrict snippets to specific projects or make them accessible across all projects (default setting).

Where Can I Use Text Snippets?

You can use the power of text snippets in a variety of places within Breeze:

  • Notes: Document important information, decisions, or meeting minutes.

Where Can't I Use Text Snippets?

While text snippets offer a wide range of applications, there are a few limitations:

  • Single-line Input Fields: You cannot use snippets in fields like task names, project names, or list names, as these fields only allow for a single line of text input.

This limitation is due to the nature of text snippets, which are designed to incorporate rich text formatting, such as bold, italics, and links.

How to Insert a Text Snippet

To insert a text snippet into your desired location, simply follow these steps:

  1. Type the semicolon (;) at the point where you want to insert the snippet.
  2. Select the desired snippet from the dropdown menu that appears.
  3. The snippet's content will be inserted directly into your text, maintaining any formatting and structure.
